MBS (Methyl methacrylate-Butadiene-Styrene) resin is a terpolymer of methyl methacrylate (M), butadiene (B), and styrene (S).

Applications of MBS Resin

MBS exhibits excellent impact resistance, capable of increasing the impact strength of polyvinyl chloride by 6 to 15 times, while having minimal effect on other physical properties such as tensile strength and elongation. It also offers good transparency, heat resistance, colorability, and low-temperature characteristics, improving the secondary processability of products. It is commonly used in the production of packaging containers, pipes, sheets, interior decorative panels, and soft products. However, due to the presence of unsaturated butadiene structures, it is prone to aging from oxygen and ultraviolet light, resulting in poor weather resistance. Therefore, it is not suitable for outdoor applications requiring long-term use.
